The foundation will consider funding program, operating, and capital grants, including indirect costs and salaries that support core staff. In deference to the roots as the Visiting Nurse Association of Chicago, priority consideration will be given to programs in which care is provided by nurses.

- Health Education or Promotion
- Often combined with primary care provision, or as part of violence prevention programs, home visiting services or reproductive health efforts.
- Technical Assistance
- Healthcare-related technical assistance services (e.g. assistance with care provision, program development or sector support) offered to other nonprofits.
- Violence Prevention
- Often related to domestic violence and sexual assault services, and occasionally other interpersonal violence prevention or early intervention services.
- Maternal Child Health
- Offered via home- or community-based settings including outpatient services (e.g. free clinics, school-based health centers, home care doula and nursing services, etc.).
- Dental & Vision
- Offered in home- or community-based settings including mobile and outpatient services (e.g. free clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, school-based health centers, home health care, etc.).
Funding Information
They prefer that requested grant amounts be rounded to the nearest $500.
Eligibility Criteria
All grants requests must:
- Have measurable goals and objectives.
- Benefit the medically underserved.
- Be submitted by an organization exempt from income tax under sec. 501 (c)(3), and designated as a public charity under section 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2), of the Internal Revenue Code. VNA Foundation does not provide grants to section 509(a)(3) “supporting organizations.”
