Providers could receive grant funds up to 45% of their operating expenses. Initially, DPHHS indicated that providers might receive 80 – 100% of their operating costs. Based on the applications submitted thus far from eligible providers, DPHHS has adjusted its estimates for all eligible providers based on available funding. Eligible licensed and registered child care businesses should still consider applying.
Allowable operating expenses include:
- Personnel costs including benefits, premium pay, bonuses, and recruitment and retention
- Rent or mortgage
- Facility expenses including utilities, insurance, maintenance, and minor improvements
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) including cleaning and sanitation supplies and services
- Training and professional development for staff on health and safety practices
- Equipment and supplies in response to COVID-19
- Goods and services necessary to maintain or resume services.
Eligibility Criteria
- Answer Yes or No to each of the questions:
- Is your child care business licensed or registered by Montana Child Care Licensing?
- Is your child care business in good standing with Montana Child Care Licensing?
- Are you open and providing child care or temporarily closed due to public health, financial hardship, or other reasons relating to the COVID-19 public health emergency?
- Is your business registered and current with the Montana Secretary of State?
