Research estimates indicate that the average educator spends several hundred dollars of their own money each year to buy items for their students. The Classroom Fund was created to relieve that financial burden while ensuring educators have the opportunity to work with new and innovative learning materials. Since 2011, more than $500,000 in grant monies have been used to support more than 500 educators’ efforts to create or enhance learning opportunities for students.
How the Classroom Fund Works
- Teachers, counselors, coaches, and librarians can apply annually through a simple application.
- Applications are evaluated based on innovation, demonstrated need, and student engagement/learning possibilities.
- The Classroom Fund, managed by the El Paso Community Foundation, purchases the requested materials for the selected educators.
- The selected educators are invited to a celebratory reception where they will receive the requested materials.
- The selected educators share images, letters, or videos of how the grant impacted their students.
