Detail:
The Initiative Foundation supports a 14-county service area that includes Benton, Cass, Chisago, Crow Wing, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine, Sherburne, Stearns, Todd, Wadena and Wright counties and the sovereign tribal nations of the Leech Lake and Mille Lacs Bands of Ojibwe. Based in Little Falls, the Foundation exists to improve the quality of life and to build stronger communities in Central Minnesota by offering business loans, nonprofit grants, leadership training and donor services through its Partner Funds programs. Since 1986, the Initiative Foundation and its Partner Funds have invested multiple millions in the region through targeted grants and business financing investments.
The goal is to fund high-impact strategies for regional nonprofits affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Initiative Foundation will be awarding multiple grants for a total disbursement of up to $700,000 during this initial round. Grants will go to organizations that articulate a clear vision and a plan to increase their impact, efficiency, financial sustainability or scope of services.
A top priority of their funding partner supporting this opportunity is to support organizations led by and/or serving communities that are majority Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC). About half of the funds will be awarded in rural areas where underserved populations are less likely to have BIPOC concentrations and are more likely to represent other underserved groups.
Criteria
Central Minnesota nonprofits that meet the criteria can complete a letter of inquiry at their earliest convenience.
