The City of San José Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) Department’s BEST Grant Program strives to provide funding for services to build on the strengths of San José youth and reduce their risk of gang involvement and youth violence.
Interested agencies must be a 501(c)(3), a government agency, or a legally recognized faith-based organization. They must demonstrate experience in providing services in at least one of the five defined service strategy areas:
- Youth development and leadership services
- Place-based intervention and diversion services
- Vocational and job training services
- Family and neighborhood strengthening support
- Individual and whole family support services
The City of San José uses a racial equity lens and believes that the BEST Grant Program can address the serious problem of youth violence through strategic partnerships with non-profits.
