Funding Priorities
Basic Needs
- The Basic Needs funding priority supports organizations assisting displaced individuals or those encountering various challenges in their journey toward self-sufficiency. These grants include those that focus on short-term assistance, including:
Community Asset Building
- The funding priority for Community Asset Building includes a variety of investments, all with a central focus on strengthening community assets, including:
- Small business development
- Diversity initiatives
- Community planning
- Long-term housing programs
- Transportation
- Literacy and adult education
Health and Wellbeing
- The Health and Wellbeing funding priority seeks to help increase the well-being of adults and youth, and supports work including:
- Medical, dental, vision services
- Wellness programs for families and the elderly, particularly supporting services in underserved and rural communities.
- Early education and parenting programs
- Community recreation
- Physical and mental health services
- Youth support and enrichment
- Post-secondary education
- Job skills
Restorative and Emergency Responsive
- The priority of Restorative and Emergency Responsive focuses on assisting organizations dedicated to restoring stability for individuals and families encountering disruptive forces in life. Grants encompass initiatives that address:
- Domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and recovery
- Disaster response
- Economic stabilization
- Helping people navigate the judicial and legal system
Funding Information
Grant amounts will be between $10,000- $75,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations or program purposes that address relevant community priorities and align with the following funding priorities- Basic Needs, Community Asset Building, Health and Wellbeing, and Restorative and Emergency Responsive.
- Organizations and programs that provide direct service to address immediate needs within their communities.
- Direct services are programs or activities that work directly with individuals, families, groups, or organizations (such as nonprofits and businesses). This work improves the lives of service recipients and, by extension, the health of communities or populations. Direct services include organizations that provide technical assistance and capacity building, but not those that provide research or advocacy.
- Beneficiaries of grantees must reside in Montana. Current Otto Bremer Trust grantees are eligible to apply.
- IRS determined 501(c)3 organizations, no fiscal sponsorships.
