Grant Funds Prioritization
If eligible applicants exceed available funds, priority will be granted to businesses that:
- Have not received other types of COVID-19 relief funds.
- Experienced the most significant, measurable negative financial impacts demonstrated by the revenue loss information provided in the application.
- Fall into industries most harmed by the pandemic and associated public health orders.
- Are at least 51% owned and operated by someone who identifies with one or more of the following categories:
- A Veteran or person who currently, or previously served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, Military Reserves, or National Guard
- Racial minorities as defined by the U.S. Census-Bureau (Asian, American Indian or Alaskan Native, African American or Black, Hawaiian Native or Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latinx)
- Female
- Socially and Economically Disadvantaged person
- Person with a disability
Funding Information
The Town will be offering 30 total grants of $4,500 each to qualifying small businesses located in Morrisville.
Eligibility Criteria
- Business must be currently operational and located in Morrisville, North Carolina.
- You can verify your business’s location using Wake County iMAPS and searching for your business address.
- Only businesses located within Morrisville’s Corporate Limits are eligible. Some businesses may have a Morrisville address but are not inside the Town Limits.
- If the business has multiple locations, locations must be limited to the Triangle region in order for the business to be eligible.
- Must be a for-profit business.
- The effective date of the business formation or DBA in the case of sole proprietorships will need to be before January 1, 2020.
- Current annual revenue of $500,000 or less based on most recent business tax returns or profit and loss statements.
- At least 15% gross revenue reduction during the COVID-19 calculation period.
- Calculation period is based on the annual calculation between 2019 and 2020 revenues.
- Not have any active bankruptcies, tax liens, or judgments.
- Note: For sole proprietorship or general partnership businesses, there can be no active personal bankruptcy, tax liens or judgments, or any active business bankruptcy.
- Not be delinquent on North Carolina State income taxes.
- No outstanding taxes are owed to Wake County or the Town of Morrisville.
Grant Reporting Requirements
- Grant funding must be spent within 6 months of receiving the funding.
- Provide the Town with a narrative statement on how the money helped your business. (500 words suggested)
- Include photos to highlight the use of funds where possible. The Town may use these photos to share on social media, and in reports to Town Council and the SBA.
Ineligible businesses include:
- Non-profits
- Real estate investment firms (real property held for investment purposes)
- Lobbyists
- Businesses debarred or otherwise excluded from doing business with the federal government
- Businesses engaged in illegal activities
