The Healthy Communities & Parks Fund, paid for by the Targeted Equity Grant Program, funds projects and programs that provide new, increased, or enhanced access to recreation, parks, and open space in underserved and historically excluded communities, including investing in capacity- building for community-based organizations. Program goals include reducing inequitable disparities and improving the health and well-being of King County residents in underserved and historically excluded communities by increasing access to parks, open space, and recreation opportunities.

- Culturally appropriate programs that increase access to recreation, parks, and open/ green spaces, in and for underserved communities
- Projects that provide additional access to recreation, parks, or open spaces for people with disabilities
- Capacity building for organizations that increase access to recreation, parks, and open/ green spaces, in and for underserved communities
- Land acquisition located specifically within an Opportunity Area or that serves a community of need, based on established Determinants of Equity and consistent with King County Code 26.12.003 J
- Capital projects that increase access to recreation in underserved communities.
- Development or renovation of recreational facilities that will result in increased access and use by an underserved community
