The Medica Foundation recognizes the importance of supporting the unique health needs of individual communities in the grantmaking.
Examples include funding for caregiver/respite services, technology, transportation, program supplies, dental care and food security. Funding is available only to organizations located outside of the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area in Minnesota.
The overarching principles
- Benefits local communities.
- Improves the availability of, access to and/or quality of health care.
- Achieves success or demonstrates effectiveness through measurable outcomes.
Priority will be given to programs that
- Support community-led initiatives
- Have a high likelihood of improved health through sustainable impact
- Address community issues and promote equitable solutions to reduce health disparities
- Build partnerships and collaborations within the community
Funding Information
Individual grants may be awarded up to $10,000.
Eligibility Criteria
To request a grant, your organization must be a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, public/governmental agency, or Tribal Nation located in and providing services in Minnesota. A public agency is an organization established and primarily funded by a unit of government. Examples could include a public school, public health department or state governmental agency.
The areas fund does not include:
- Capital campaigns or capital expenditures
- General and/or ongoing operating support for program grants
- Fiscal agents unless the fiscal agent is an active partner in the program
- Organizations with a pending 501c(3) status
- Programs for which overhead expenses exceed 10% of the total grant
- Religious groups for religious purposes
- Lobbying or political activities
- Sporting events or athletic groups
- Direct support for individuals and families
