KACF-SF work with community partners to identify where grant funding can make an effective and lasting impact and prioritize programs that address the critical needs of the under-served and under-resourced in the communities.
Program Areas
- Physical & Mental Health
- To fund programs helping individuals and families to improve physical and mental wellbeing through activities such as counseling and support services, community education, and advocacy.
- Senior Care & Empowerment
- To support programs that help seniors become or remain self-sufficient and that offer culturally competent and age-appropriate services, such as ESL classes, assistance with government benefits, and group activities that promote socio-emotional and physical well-being.
- Domestic & Community Safety
- To fund programs that help survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking to achieve emotional and physical safety through counseling, comprehensive support services, and community education and advocacy focused on prevention and victims’ rights.
- Civic Engagement
- To support programs that work to increase civic engagement and participation among Korean Americans for a healthy democracy. They are particularly interested in programs that focus on methods to overcome barriers to civic participation and spur increased individual engagement in various civic activities.
- Youth Empowerment
- To support programs that promote skills-based learning, critical thinking skills, leadership, community service and engagement, and academic achievement, including access to post-secondary education, for young people.
Priorities
KACF-SF is particularly interested in organizations and programs that:
- Address the critical needs of under-served and under-resourced communities in one of our five program priority areas: Physical & Mental Health; Senior Care; Domestic & Family Safety; Civic Engagement; and Youth Empowerment.
- Work with Korean Americans either as a target population or within the larger group of constituents served by the organization/program
- Seek to expand their outreach to and/or work with the Korean American community
- Engage in partnerships with other community organizations and stakeholders
- Measure and document quantitative and qualitative outcomes
- Have successful or innovative program/service models that can be replicated
- Can clearly articulate how KACF-SF’s grant will advance their work
Funding Information
- The maximum grant amount is $30,000 per year.
- Organizations may apply for a one-year or two-year grant.
- Two-year grants (maximum of $30,000 per year; $60,000 total over two years) are for program-specific support only and not for general operating support. The proposal narrative must specify activities and objectives for each year of the two-year grant.
Eligibility Criteria
KACF-SF will consider organizations that:
- Are registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or have fiscal sponsors that are 501(c)(3)
- Are located within the greater Bay Area
- Have an operational history of at least 6 months
- Have an established and working Board of Directors
- Have filed IRS Form 990 and/or audited financials
