The Community Fund is an unrestricted fund that makes possible grants responsive to the community’s greatest needs.
Grant Priorities
CRCF gives priority to organizations and projects that:
- Benefit the residents of the Cattaraugus County (NY) region and nearby communities served by specific funds managed by the Foundation including those in Allegany County (NY) and McKean County (PA)
- Provide vital community services
- Build the capacity of the applying organization.

Grants typically range between $100 and $2,500.
Eligibility Criteria
CRCF will make grants to charitable organizations that are tax-exempt under IRS Code Section 501(c)(3), governmental units, school districts and universities. Grants to religious institutions may be considered, however, the program must serve a community need (e.g. food program for the needy).
The Foundation does not Fund
- Individuals (except for scholarships awarded to the student’s account at a college or post-secondary institution). However, the Foundation will consider grants for individuals who are part of a certain charitable class for a particular purpose such as disaster relief, homeless, etc.
- For-profit organizations
- Sectarian religious activities
- Political purposes
- Program ads
- Fundraising events or sponsorships
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of gender, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, national origin or physical ability.
