The goals and objectives of this program are:
- Conducting a combination of in-person and virtual Joint USDA Outreach meetings, Women in Ag Conferences, and Farmers Cooperatives Workshops utilizing planning, and promotional techniques to increase the awareness of NRCS programs (70% of the outreach meetings held must be in-person).
- Conduct USDA outreach, career path events, and conservation awareness events at elementary, middle, and high schools in the blackbelt, central, and wiregrass regions of Alabama to provide awareness about USDA NRCS careers, conservation, sustainable ag, and college agricultural disciplines of study.
- Outreach that will be conducted to further the Agency’s priorities.
- Conducting outreach to promote soil health with the use of cover crops and other methods that improve soil quality.
- Hosting in-person outreach meetings and forestry tours that will increase public awareness on prescribed burning, forestry and wildlife related techniques, and financial assistance opportunities that are available through the USDA-NRCS in Alabama.
- Establishment of a program and outreach opportunities at the university and high school level that will recruit students for future employment with the USDA- NRCS in Alabama specifically in the wiregrass region of Alabama, Tuskegee University, Auburn University, and Alabama A&M University
- Provide in-person outreach meetings and demonstrations that promotes the adoption of USDA-NRCS climate smart practices.

- The Federal funding agency expects to award approximately $750,000.00.
- The estimated funding floor for this opportunity is $20,000.00 and the estimated funding ceiling is $75,000.00.
Project Period
Projects may be between 1 and 5 years in duration.
