This competitive grant program will support acquisition, improvements, and/or development. The County wishes to acknowledge the hard work of the Parks and Recreation workgroup, which is made up of Eaton County Board of Commissioner members and County staff.
Funding Information
- The total annual amount available for the fiscal year in 2023 is $400,000 the fiscal year will begin October 1st, 2023.
- Grant limits: Eaton County Parks Community Grant Program application limits – $5,000 minimum / $400,000 maximum.
Eligibility Criteria
- Funding for cities, villages, and townships within Eaton County for park and open spaces related improvements who provide recreation, conservation, and natural resource access within locally owned and operated parks and open spaces.
- Grant projects must be located in Eaton County, Michigan.
- Grant application must be submitted by a city, village, or township in Eaton County.
Evaluation Criteria
Applicants are encouraged to develop projects that will enhance or provide long term and viable recreational opportunities. Projects that improve outdoor recreation in general and connect to or improve county owned/operated parks in some way are encouraged. Applications will be evaluated based on providing access to natural resources, outdoor spaces and conservation. Engagement with other agencies (ie: Health Department, Road Commission, etc.) to ensure the project meets or will meet their requirements is suggested.
