The intent of the Securing Our Future (SOF) grant funding is to provide resources to improve the security infrastructure of Idaho’s K-12 schools. The goal of the SOF grant program is to fund meaningful, durable, and demonstrated-effective security improvements. All funding requests should address identified vulnerabilities.
The objective of the grant is to comparatively disburse funds to help schools to improve safety and security projects/ equipment that should improve their overall safety and security profile. Schools will use vulnerabilities identified in their latest Idaho Office of School Safety and Security Vulnerability Assessment Report to determine their grant project/equipment needs. The project/equipment should be meaningful, durable, and demonstrated effective, to eliminate or mitigate the identified vulnerability.
Funding requests must be directed toward one or more of the following general categories:
- Access Control for School Property, Facilities, or Interior Spaces
- Public Access/ Visitor Management
- Life Safety (Fire Alarm) Systems
- Surveillance
- Communications
Funding Information
- Total available funding for competitive Phase 2 is approximately $6,300.000
- Maximum award of $200,000 per project.
Submission Parameters
- Each LEA (K-12 public school district or K-12 public charter) can submit one application with one major project for each designated school in the district.
- Incomplete applications will be removed from scoring consideration and will be ineligible to receive funding. Applicants are responsible for completing the entire application and submitting all required documents.
- No administrative fees are allowed within the scope of work submitted.
- Applications for leased facilities are allowed. However, all improvement must remain the property of the State of Idaho and a transition plan may be required.
