The Arts Access Grant program provides up to $5,000 in funding to cultural community groups and nonprofit organizations in support of arts-focused activities that increase Minnesotan’s access to the arts and celebrate diverse cultural expression.

Eligible applicants must be from historically under-represented groups and located in Benton, Sherburne, Stearns or Wright counties.
CMAB Program Outcomes
- Regional residents build connections to their own and others’ cultural heritage through regional arts and cultural events and/or activities.
- Regional residents experience increased access to the arts via a reduction in geographic, cultural and/or physical barriers.
- Regional residents experience a change in knowledge, attitude, behavior, or condition due to the cultural event and/or arts activities.
Grant Period
Projects must be completed 12 months from the approval date.
Proposals Eligible
Proposals must take place within Region 7W and directly benefit Region 7W residents. Applicants may submit one application per year.
- Artistic performances/gallery series, exhibits
- Arts and cultural festivals
- Arts education experiences
- Arts workshops
- Sustaining and enhancing quality arts programming
- Celebrating the cultural & ethnic arts traditions represented in Region 7W.
Who can apply?
Applicants must serve Region 7W residents and be located within the Minnesota counties of Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, or Wright. Applicants must be from a historically under-represented group, including BIPOC, people with disabilities or LGBTQIA+.
- Nonprofit 501(c)(3) arts organizations
- Cultural Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations that do not have arts as a primary focus
- Cultural Community groups WITHOUT nonprofit designation that are sponsored by a fiscal agent.
Applicants not Eligible
- For-profit businesses
- Organizations or groups without a cultural or accessibility focused mission
- CMAB grant recipients with any overdue final reports.
Proposals and Expenses not Eligible
Those that do not have the arts as the primary focus
- Arts proposals without a significant public/community focus
- Any expenses not directly related to the proposal
- Expenses or payments for proposals that will take place outside the State of Minnesota
- Activities that are essentially for the religious socialization of the participants or audience
- Activities that attempt to influence any state or federal legislation or appropriation
- Events or proposals where the purpose is re-granting monies
- Payment for new building projects
- Events with a primary focus of fundraising
- General operating support, endowments or equipment
- Staff pay for regular hours/administrative duties that fall outside the scope of the proposal.
