The purpose of the grant due to the unprecedented nature of the current nation-wide economic conditions, the Garrett County Arts Council (GCAC) recognizes artists may experience financial emergencies due to lack of income and rapid inflation in the areas of housing (mortgage, rent, utilities), medicine, childcare, and food. Applicants should demonstrate a need for emergency support to be considered for this grant.
Funding Information
The FY24 Emergency Artist Relief award amount is up to $500.
Project Period
March 1, 2024 and runs through August 31, 2024.
Uses of funds
Emergency Artist Relief Grant Awards must be used to support:
- housing (mortgage or rent payment);
- utilities (water, electric, gas, phone and internet);
- food and medicine;
- childcare; and
- be scheduled within the established support period (March 1, 2024-August 31, 2024).
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a Garrett County resident (owning or renting residential real property in Garrett County at the time of application submission and throughout the receipt of funding);
- must be 18 years of age or older;
- must be a practicing artist able to demonstrate a sustained commitment to artistic work, career, the local community and a public audience;
- must provide a Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) after notification of funding award;
- proof of residency may be required; and
- must certify that the applicant is not a GCAC full-time employee, board member, or immediate family member.
