This grant application is for in-watershed projects located within the watersheds of Lake Erie, Chautauqua, Findley, Bear and Cassadaga Lakes. A separate grant program is available for in-lake projects in Lake Erie, Chautauqua, Findley, Bear and Cassadaga Lakes. The projects funded by both programs must demonstrate clear evidence how it will provide a public benefit.
Funding Information
New for 2025, the minimum grant amount available is $5,000 and the maximum grant amount is $50,000. Projects will be evaluated and ranked for the Legislature by the Chautauqua County Waterways Panel based on the individual merits of the project. The Waterways panel will provide the ranked list of projects to the County Legislature by May 31, 2024, who holds the right to deny funding to any and all projects. Funding for projects will not be available any earlier than January 1, 2025. Funded projects must begin and demonstrate measurable progress within one year following funding approval. Applicants from previous years that have not demonstrated measurable progress will not be considered for the current funding cycle. The County Watershed Coordinator, Dave McCoy will evaluate project progress and provide the Legislature a progress report as necessary.
