This residency includes studio space, a material stipend to create work, multiple opportunities for community engagement, and culminates in an exhibition and dialogue of work.
Criteria
This program welcomes emerging artists who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Artists who are working in any medium/discipline or whose work is interdisciplinary are all welcome to apply. Possibilities include, but are not limited to: photography, installation painting, printmaking, sculpture, film/video, time-based media, performance, and mixed media work. Artists must either live or work in the Columbus metropolitan area.
ROY G BIV defines emerging artists as those that:
- are early in their careers
- have a focused direction and goals, even while still developing their artistic “voice”
- have yet to be substantially celebrated within their field, the media, funding circles or the public at large
- are not represented by a gallery
- Have not exhibited at ROY yet, except for the annual small works members’ show
