Additionally, the City Manager will be adding TIF and General Fund resources to support small businesses in historically blighted commercial corridors. These programs would represent the largest investment in small business ever made by the City of Waco. This is a recognition of the dedicated and hard-working people that keep the Waco economy moving and attempts to reduce the impacts of COVID-19, construction, and long-term blight on community.
What types of businesses are eligible?
- Businesses with fewer than 25 employees are eligible to apply.
- Must have been in business in a CDBG Eligible area as of March 3, 2021
- Must demonstrate HUD eligibility requirements through one of the following
- Demonstrate ownership by a low- to moderate-income (LMI) household,
- Maintain 51% of its employees meeting LMI criteria, or
- Any other CDBG eligible areas.
What types of businesses are not eligible?
- Businesses located outside the CDBG Eligible Area
- Non-Profits
- Gambling/Gaming businesses
- Sexually Oriented businesses
- Payday Lender, Check Cashing, or Auto Title/Loan Providers
- Liquor Stores
- Businesses in which a city employee or city elected official has a financial interest.
