Donor Name: The CARES Foundation
State: California
City: Sacramento
Type of Grant: Grant
Deadline: 06/03/2022
Details:
The CARES Foundation is committed to improving the health of the Sacramento region by supporting nonprofit organizations that share in its mission.
These grants may include funds for general support or for specific programs.
While the CARES Foundation values innovation, its focus for grant-making is on organizations that are sustainable, well-managed, and have a demonstrated ability to have an impact on HIV. Equal consideration is given to grant requests that address either prevention or care.
Unlike other chronic diseases, HIV is unique in the need to not only care for the patient, but to do everything possible to prevent transmission to others. Finding those infected with HIV also means that testing is a major focus for the Foundation.
Foundation Strategic Funding Priorities
- HIV prevention such as: syringe exchange and disposal; condom distribution, and/or Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)
- Filling gaps in supportive services to keep People Living with HIV (PLWH) in care such as substance use disorder treatment, transportation, patient navigation, case management, and/or housing assistance
- HIV Testing with linkage to care
- Education and training about sexually transmitted infections (STIs)/HIV such as education to the community and/or medical providers
- Innovative projects that address the impact of HIV in the Sacramento region such as outreach to underserved populations including, but not limited to, youth, Latinx, African Americans, and/or Transgender communities.
