The Hackensack Lakes Area Community Foundation provides financial and human connections to support a healthy place to live, learn, work and play.
The Foundation goal is to improve and strengthen community by supporting projects that fit one or more of the following areas:
- A place to raise families that prepare our kids for a healthy future.
- An environmentally friendly place to live work and play for future generations
- Create an environment that is adaptable, respectful and diverse
- A place you want to be and come back to
- A thriving community with emphasis on providing people with what they need to succeed
Funding Priorities
- Improve the quality and scope of educational programming to residents
- Promote community development and appearance
- Enrich the artistic and cultural climate
- Increase and diversify recreational activities
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for funding, an organization must:
- Be a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, unit of government or public school district
- Individuals with great ideas are encouraged to partner with a local non-profit organization.
- Serve the people who live and/or work in the 9 townships surrounding Hackensack including Hiram, Woodrow, Birch, Powers, Ponto, Deerfield, Shingobee South, Turtle Lake South and Pine Lake.
- Have a project that fits within their funding priorities.
- The board of the non-profit or sponsoring organization must formally approve the application and accept fiduciary and reporting responsibility
Ineligible Projects
- Individuals or private businesses
- Endowments, national or local fund drives or general funds
- Expenses incurred prior to notice that the grant has been awarded
- Religious organizations for direct religious activities
- Political campaigns or lobbying activities.
