The Foundation prioritizes grants to organizations that align with its mission, have a demonstrated impact, have strong leadership and a collaborative approach to community change, and a focus on racial equity and justice.
Geographic Service Area: The Foundation’s community grant program supports organizations that serve the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire (Grafton and Sullivan Counties) and Vermont (Orange and Windsor Counties); and organizations that serve the Island of Martha’s Vineyard.
The Foundation provides the following types of grant support:
- Unrestricted (i.e., General Operating)
- Project
- Capital (Please contact a member of the foundation staff prior to applying for capital support. The Foundation only considers capital grant applications that are closely aligned with the Foundation’s mission and priorities.)
- Event Sponsorships (for organizations that have an existing relationship with the Foundation)
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must have 501(c)3 nonprofit status or fiscal sponsorship through a 501(c)3 organization.
- The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, religious organizations, or “start-up” organizations.
- Grants are not made to public, private, or independent elementary and secondary schools. Trustees will consider requests from nonprofit organizations whose purpose is to enhance the learning opportunities and well-being of children in school.
