The TURI Community Program strongly encourages applicants to expand on past projects. Many existing resources, such as trainings, brochures, flyers, and posters can be used to expand projects to additional communities. Organizational collaborations and including statewide organizations in your project are strongly encouraged. It is also recommended that resources already created under past projects be used to implement statewide projects. Examples of areas where TURI has a particular interest include:
- Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS)
- Use of safer products and processes for cleaning and disinfection
- Organic management of athletic fields
- Integrated pest management
- Reducing use of toxic chemicals, such as formaldehyde and methylene chloride, in schools and science laboratories
- Educating consumers about safer alternatives to toxic chemicals in dry cleaning and other small business sectors
Eligibility Criteria
- TURI accepts applications only from Massachusetts community organizations, municipalities, youth groups, and regional and state-wide organizations. They strongly encourage partnerships between two or more of these types of organizations.
