The Foundation prioritizes grants to organizations that align with its mission, have a demonstrated impact, have strong leadership and a collaborative approach to community change, and a focus on racial equity and justice.
Types of Grants
The Foundation provides the following types of grant support:
- Unrestricted (i.e., General Operating)
- Project
- Capital (Please contact a member of the foundation staff prior to applying for capital support. The Foundation only considers capital grant applications that are closely aligned with the Foundation’s mission and priorities.)
- Event Sponsorships (for organizations that have an existing relationship with the Foundation).
Geographical Areas
The Foundation’s community grant program supports organizations that serve the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire (Grafton and Sullivan Counties) and Vermont (Orange and Windsor Counties); and organizations that serve the Island of Martha’s Vineyard.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must have 501(c)3 nonprofit status or fiscal sponsorship through a 501(c)3 organization
- The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, religious organizations, or “start-up” organizations
- Grants are not made to public, private, or independent elementary and secondary schools. Trustees will consider requests from nonprofit organizations whose purpose is to enhance the learning opportunities and well-being of children in school.
