The SCF, with the leadership, expertise and support of the Foundation, will provide a source of funding exclusively for the town of Southborough. It is the Community Board’s goal to fund projects that bring innovative thinking to big issues and small ones – for the benefit of Southborough.
The goal of promote a spirit of philanthropic giving to help enhance the quality of life for all Southborough residents. SCF aims to support and continue the Southborough Education Foundation’s mission of fostering educational excellence by providing funding for innovative programs and enhancing the educational experience of students in Southborough Public Schools.
This grant program aims to provide one-time grants for proposals that enhance the core and supplemental parts of the schools’ curricula, support new educational paradigms and result in richer learning experiences for Southborough students. The goal of the grant program is to fund educational projects that are innovative, relevant, creative, effective, and inspiring. Grant funds are not intended to replace or relieve the existing responsibility for public funding of school programs, nor are they intended to substitute for regular budget growth and maintenance.
Eligibility
SCF will ONLY consider proposals that meet the following criteria:
- are self-sustaining after the initial investment, if applicable
- support the goals of the Southborough Public Schools and/or the Northborough/Southborough Regional High School and/or the town of Southborough students
- will transform learning in specific and visible ways
- are new to the teachers and students involved
SCF will give priority to grant proposals that meet some or all of the following criteria:
- show creativity and innovation
- are broad in scope with a measurable impact (i.e., will impact a significant number of students/teachers/community members over an extended time)
- are pilot efforts that can be adopted later by a wider audience to impact additional students across the school or town, if appropriate
- enhance collaboration among classes, grades, schools, curricular teams, and/or community initiatives.
SCF will NOT support
- salaried positions or substitute teacher stipends
- programs/equipment not supported by the District
- field trips
- funding beyond initial Grant Award (i.e. programs need ongoing support)
- programs, equipment, or services cut from the school budget
- retroactive compensation
