Mayor’s Arts Grants benefit presenters, producers and community-based art organizations that are 501(c)3 non-profits and that offer: visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, media arts, performance art, traditional/folk arts, crafts, multi-discipline, or new genres.
A long-standing tradition, the Mayor’s Art Grants will financially support valuable local non-profits through a competitive grant application process.
Eligibility Criteria
There are four general eligibility criteria:
- Only community arts organizations physically located within the Municipality of Anchorage are eligible for funding. An eligible organization is one whose primary purpose is to produce arts events, projects and services within the Municipality of Anchorage.
- The organization must have articles of incorporation and by-laws filed with the State of Alaska or be a recognized chapter of a national organization.
- The organization must provide proof of IRS nonprofit status.
- The organization must have a volunteer board of directors
- Qualified organizations must be Anchorage based non-profits with official determination from the IRS.
Limitations
- The Arts Advisory Commission will not recommend for any group a funding level in excess of 15% of the Municipality’s art grant funds or a funding level in excess of 17% of the organization’s annual operating budget.
- The commission will not recommend funding for the following:
- Organizations incorporated for less than one year.
- Expenses or obligations incurred by the organization before January 1st, 2022.
- Construction and/or purchase of real property; or
- Purchase of automobiles, vans, buses, or similar transportation equipment.
