The City of Glenwood Springs allocates a portion of sales tax revenues from its A&I and Tourism Funds through a competitive grant process. Grant applications may be submitted by not-for-profit, government, or tax-supported entities for human services, special events, tourism promotion and other public purposes as City Council deems appropriate.
The Finance Advisory Board is a City Council-appointed group of community volunteers that meets monthly to advise and assist the City Manager and Finance Director in the preparation of the City budget, the establishment of accounting systems for the City, the planning of expenses, the projection of revenues and the analysis of the other fiscal matters presented to the Board by the City Council. The Finance Advisory Board is also responsible for making recommendations to City Council regarding grants, including the FAB grant.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a not-for-profit, government or tax-supported public entity.
- May not be a political organization.
- The estimated number of citizens of Glenwood Springs impacted by the application must be disclosed separately from the estimated number of people impacted overall.
- General operating expenses are more likely to be funded than capital expenditures which will be subject to a higher level of scrutiny by the reviewing body.
- Awards to religious organizations are generally not funded. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis depending on the purpose of the request.
- They generally consider only applications of less than 10% of the organization’s annual budget.
