Examples of projects/programs that have been funded in recent years include:
- Initiatives to reduce economic barriers for parenting courses with a mindfulness and whole family approach
- Providing leadership opportunities for youth to have a stake in substance abuse reduction and promoting positive mental health initiatives and community service
- Supporting the mentor-mentee relationship between a parent-child advocate and the parent/child to overcome trauma and teach essential life skills
- Providing parent education classes on positive discipline techniques
- Financially assisting families to access services for their children with special needs
- Offering temporary housing for children removed from situations involving abuse and neglect.
Projects/programs that primarily distribute commodities to children (i.e. food) are not primary areas of focus for the Central Kansas Kids FUNd grant cycle. However, projects/programs that provide other services, like parent education classes or activities to build family relationships, of which providing a meal is one part, may be funded.
Eligibility Criteria
Possess a 501(c)(3) status under the Internal Revenue Service code, be exempt under statute (i.e. educational institution, church, city, or county), or be formally linked to an organization with such distinction
