P.A. 144 of 2022, Section 32n provides $24,500,000 to provide before-school, after school, before-and-after-school or during the summer programming to children in any of grades K to 12. OST programs must provide educational programming in core subject areas, including, but not limited to, mathematics, reading, and science. OST programs must provide data to evaluate the program as determined by the MDE.
Target Population to be Served
The target population is children in any of grades K to 12.
Eligibility Criteria
- An eligible applicant must be a community-based organization that is exempt from federal income tax code 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, 26 USC 501, an institute of higher education, a community or adult education program, a public library, a local government, or an intermediate district.
- And must provide all of the following, at a miminum:
- Support expanded learning opportunities, including, but not limited to, mentoring, leadership, community engagement, agriculture, art, music, literacy, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, health, and recreation programming.
- Address measurable goals, including, but not limited to, improved school attendance, academic outcomes, positive behaviors, and skill acquisition, and include activities linked to research or quality practices.
- Provide programming to children in a manner in which the children are physically present at a building or location designated by the eligible entity.
- Provide educational programming in core subject areas, including, but not limited to, mathematics, reading, and science.
- Provide data to evaluate the program in a form and manner as prescribed by the department.
