The goal of this project is to help build the capacity of local non-profit organizations for performing wildfire mitigation education and outreach efforts and plan, develop, and implement strategic forest and grassland management projects.
Wildfire mitigation is work that reduces the severity and negative impacts of future wildfires before a fire ignites. Work that takes place after a wildfire ignites—wildfire response, recovery, restoration, tree planting, seed collection, and other post-fire activities do not qualify as wildfire mitigation, and the Wildfire Mitigation Tax funding may not be used to support such activities.

- Conduct community outreach and education campaigns to recruit landowners to participate in strategic forest and grassland management projects.
- Use a variety of outreach and education tools and techniques to build this strong community support and conduct these campaigns such as community meetings, special events, webinars, printed material, videos, site visits, and tours.
- Plan, develop, and implement strategic forest and grassland management projects, including larger, cross-boundary and community-wide (multi-landowner) projects in the focus areas of the Boulder County Fire shed.
- Perform project monitoring and evaluation tasks, working closely with Boulder County and other community organizations in connection therewith.
- Encourage landowner participation in Wildfire Partners, the Boulder County Community Forestry Sort Yards, and other relevant county programs.
- Produce a variety of products and deliverables, as directed by Boulder County, such as work plans, annual reports, maps, presentations, and other documents to report on the progress, accomplishments, and lessons learned in connection with this work.
