- Grants are made to federally tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public non-profit organizations and also made to qualified public government organizations or agencies for public purposes. Individuals and other types of organizations are not eligible.
- Grants are made without regard to race, religion, creed or color.

- The Community Foundation does NOT make Betterment Grants to support religious activities, political activities or events that primarily are fundraisers.
- The Community Foundation does NOT make Betterment Grants to support current operating budgets or current ongoing activities of organizations or to provide for deficit funding of operations or activities, except where a community disaster response within the service area is warranted.
- Betterment Grants are funded from Unrestricted Grant Funds and Field of Interest Funds administered by Mid- Nebraska Community Foundation.
