The Jerrold B. Whitney/ Clayton Pinkerton Fund awards grants to add books to the libraries’ general or special collections. Due to the Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, proposals for e-books are also welcomed. Specifically, funds may be used to purchase works in the following genres: Nonfiction, Biographies, History, Arts, and Humanities. The Fund helps move along the love of books the Fund holder had to a new generation.

The fund will award grants to add books to libraries’ general or special collections.
Specifically, funds may be used to purchase works in the following genres: Nonfiction, Biographies, History, Arts, and the Humanities. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, proposals for e-books are also welcomed. Funds may not be used for any other purposes or genres and may not be used to purchase textbooks or books for specific classes.
To be eligible for consideration, organizations must be:
- Located in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and/or Yolo counties; and
- Considered a 501(c)(3) public charity, 501(c)(3) private operating foundation or be fiscally sponsored by an organization that meets this requirement.
This round of funding, the grant will accept proposals for programs/projects that:
- Serve El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and/or Yolo counties; and
- Are well-equipped to carry out the mission-aligned project; and
- Include clear and measurable project objectives and activities.
