With this solicitation, NIJ seeks applications for funding under OJP Community-Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative (CVIPI). CVIPI provides resources to support evidence-informed violence intervention and prevention programs in communities across the United States. This solicitation includes four funding categories:
- Training and Technical Assistance to Support CVIPI Evaluation Capacity Building and Researcher and Practitioner Partnerships;
- Training and Technical Assistance to Support Violent Crime Problem Analyses of Jurisdictions not Funded under the OJP FY22 and FY23 CVIPI Solicitations;
- Site-Based Evaluations of Programs Funded under the OJP FY22 and FY23 CVIPI Solicitations, and
- Other Community-Violence Research and Evaluations.
NIJ will give special consideration to proposals with methods that include meaningful engagement with the people with lived experience of the subject of study, including, but not limited to, justice practitioners, community members, crime victims, service providers, and individuals who have experienced justice system involvement.
Applications proposing research involving partnerships with criminal justice or other agencies, should include a letter of support, signed by an appropriate decision-making authority from each proposed, partnering agency. A letter of support should include the partnering agency’s acknowledgement that de-identified data derived from, provided to, or obtained through an award funded by NIJ will be archived by the grant recipient with the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD) at the conclusion of the award.
Goals
This solicitation aims to enhance CVI evaluation capacity and produce practical knowledge that can advance the prevention and reduction of violent crime in communities.
Objectives
Funding projects under four different categories will achieve the goals of this solicitation:
- Category 1: Training and Technical Assistance to Support Researcher and Practitioner Partnerships, Performance Monitoring, and Documentation of the Programmatic Impact of OJP-funded CVIPI Programs/Sites.
- Category 2: Training and Technical Assistance to Support Violent Crime Problem Analyses of Jurisdictions not Funded under the OJP FY22 and FY23 CVIPI Solicitations.
- Category 3: Site-Based Evaluations of Programs Funded under the OJP FY22 and FY23 CVIPI Solicitations.
- Category 4: Other Community-Violence Research and Evaluations.
