Community Impact grants support nonprofits whose strategies and outcomes align with four focus areas: community vibrancy, economic prosperity, educational success, and health and wellness. Focus on four areas of community life that are most likely to produce positive and lasting change in the Greater Richmond region. It work closely with the funding partners and grantees to advance these goals:
- Community Vibrancy:
- The goal is for community members to access and appreciate the arts, cultural opportunities, and natural environment.
- Economic Prosperity:
- The goal is for region’s resources to be sustainable and residents to be economically stable and secure. This includes stable and secure jobs and affordable housing.
- Educational Success:
- The goal is for young people to achieve in school, engage in their community and be prepared for the workforce.
- Health & Wellness:
- The goal is for community members to be safe and healthy.

Grants typically range from $10,000 to $50,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Letters of Introduction are accepted from 501(c)(3) charitable organizations located in the Community Foundation’s service area, which includes: the cities of Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Petersburg and Richmond, the town of Ashland, and the counties of Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, and Powhatan
- Community Impact grant applicants are required to maintain a Guide star Gold profile. We suggest making these updates as soon as possible.
- All new applicants are required to request a meeting with a Program Officer before starting an application. Returning organizations are strongly encouraged to request a meeting.
