This grants program generally does not support recurring expenses, routine equipment/facilities maintenance, youth scholarships, marketing/communications, staff travel, or requests that have been previously funded by the Community Foundation or requested more than once within a 12-month period. This program also does not typically support professional development training of $4,000 or less. Applicants seeking funding of this nature are encouraged to pursue a Wyoming Department of Workforce Services Business Training Grant.
What does the Grants Committee look for?
- Clear community need with supporting evidence
- A well-developed scope of work that addresses the stated need and will have a meaningful impact
- Proposed work is non-duplicative of what related organizations are already doing
- Sustainability of project and organization
- Stakeholder inclusion and involvement
- Effective strategic partnerships
- A rational methodology for meaningful program evaluation
- A reasonable, comprehensive budget
As the name suggests, Competitive Grants are competitive. The Community Foundation always receives significantly more in funding requests than is available to grant. Proposals addressing the most critical community needs and yielding the greatest benefits are most successful. The Foundation seeks to fund a diversity of proposals from multiple fields of interest.
