Purpose
To support and foster innovative and creative programming that builds a vibrant and inclusive LA Jewish community, equipped to meet the emerging needs and opportunities of the future.
Focus Areas
They encourage applications in the following areas:
- Combatting Anti-Semitism
- Fighting hostility, prejudice or stereotypes toward the Jewish community
- Inter and intra-group dialogue
- Educational programs
- Health & Wellbeing
- Reaching Diverse Audiences
- Engaging diverse audiences including, but not limited to Jews of Color, Latin-Jews, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities, Mizrahi, Sephardic, Russian-speaking Jews, and more.
Funding Information
Grants range from $100,000 – $300,000 total, distributed over a two to three-year period.
Applicant Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant is a local or national 501c3 nonprofit or has a qualified 501(c)3 fiscal sponsor
- Applicant may apply as a collaborative (synagogues and day schools are only eligible under this category, and must be a collaborative of at least three)
- Organizations must be serving Los Angeles County. Organizations exclusively serving Long Beach or the San Gabriel Valley are not eligible.
Program Category Eligibility Criteria
- New Model: A program that has not been previously tested in any location that is designed for the LA Jewish community, based on a thorough needs assessment.
- LA Adaptation: A program operating elsewhere in the United States that is suitable for replication or adaptation and sustainability in the LA Jewish community. For national organizations not based in LA, they require 50% or more of the staff person’s time to be focused on the LA program.
- Scale Up: A cutting edge program that has operated on a small scale in Los Angeles, proven to be viable and is proposed for community-wide implementation in the L.A. Jewish community.
- Collaboration: A partnership between organizations otherwise working independently who are seeking to achieve a unified mission by developing a new program to reach a greater audience and/or provide more comprehensive resources to its current constituents.
