The Lynn Cultural Council (LCC) is part of the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s (MCC) network of local cultural councils across the Commonwealth.

Local Priorities
- The Lynn Cultural Council may give greater consideration to applicants that are able to collaborate with multiple organizations & individuals from Lynn, MA.
- The Lynn Cultural Council will prioritize applications which give a voice to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) populations. Communities of color, immigrant & refugee communities, gender minorities, LGBTQ+, disabled, low-income, and other historically marginalized groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
- The LCC will prioritize applications which provide cultural opportunities for youth.
- Programs that have received LCC funding for multiple years or are submitting multiple applications, may have a lower funding priority so that they may equitably distribute funds to applicants who have not received funds in the past.
- The LCC will prioritize applications focused on education in schools and for the community-at-large about the Arts, Humanities, and Sciences.
Local Guidelines
- Preferred applicants reside, work, and/or have an organization/business in Lynn, MA or have an established partnership with an organization/business based in Lynn, MA.
- Programs must take place in Lynn, MA and significantly benefit the residents of Lynn, MA. The LCC will prioritize applications which demonstrate thorough planning (e.g. specific dates/times, comprehensive budgets, confirmed venues, etc.). Therefore, they strongly encourage applicants to include documentation to any partnerships with Lynn organizations and/or venues (e.g. Letter of Acknowledgement, Notes from Owners, Confirmation, etc.)
- (Mass Cultural Council Guideline) Requested/Awarded Funds cannot be used for the purchase of food, beverages, or catering, and cannot be used for any travel related expenses (bus, trains, ferry, planes, etc.)
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must reside or be located in Massachusetts. Local Cultural Councils may accept applications from anyone included in the following list:
- Individuals: Individual applicants must show that a public benefit results from the project for which they are applying. A public presentation of an individual’s work may provide the needed public benefit. Individual members of Local Cultural Councils may apply for funding from a Local Cultural Council but must observe all conflict-of-interest laws and regulations in the granting process. Local Cultural Councils may also establish their own rules regarding applications from council members as long as these are consistent with the state’s conflict of interest laws.
- Incorporated private nonprofit organizations.
- Unincorporated associations that can establish a nonprofit objective. A group of individuals coming together with a common purpose (e.g., local community band, theater group) that do not have nonprofit status.
- Public schools, libraries, other municipal agencies, and the Local Cultural Council itself.
- Religious organizations. Religious organizations or groups with a religious affiliation are eligible to apply for funding for cultural programming that is available to the general public. LCCs can only approve applications that are primarily cultural in their intent and do not have the effect of advancing religion.
