Community gardens in Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties can apply to receive a $1,500 Community Garden Improvement Grant or apply to receive the $10,000 Garden Forward Grant!
Community gardens can now apply for two opportunities through a single application
- Garden Improvement Grant: Similar to the Community Garden Grant in past years, this category is for $1,500 to address community garden needs like garden infrastructure, tools, garden materials, and/or supplies. Food Well will target 65 community gardens with this grant.
- Garden Forward Grant: This new opportunity offers two community gardens $10,000 to accomplish a larger project. In addition to the $10,000 grant, Food Well is prepared to add in-kind support to your project valuing approximately $5,000. This in-kind support could include expanded compost delivery, support with additional project-related materials, and/or labor support for implementing parts of your Garden Forward project.
Eligibility Criteria
(This criteria below applies to both the Garden Improvement Grant & the Garden Forward Grant)
- Existing community gardens located in Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties.
Eligible community gardens will be one of the following:
- Community garden operated by a group of neighbors or community members
- Community garden registered as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization or operated by a tax-exempt nonprofit organization
- Community garden affiliated with or operated by a public agency or institution
- Community gardens must actively involve at least 5 individual households
- Previous garden grant recipients are eligible to apply
- Garden Improvement Grant can include items such as lumber for gardening beds, tools, storage, compost and soil, seeds, compost bins, signage, water catchment systems, irrigation systems, etc.
