The purposes of the Older Americans Act (OAA) Title III-C Senior Nutrition Program (SNP) are to: a reduce hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition, promote socialization, and enhance health and well-being by delaying the onset of adverse health conditions resulting from poor nutritional health or sedentary behavior by assisting individuals in gaining access to nutrition and other disease prevention and health promotion services. Services target older adults who are lowincome, minority, rural, those with limited English proficiency and those at risk for institutionalization.
The purpose of this funding opportunity is to establish whether OAA Title III-C SNP innovative interventions impact nutrition, socialization, and/or health and well-being outcomes.
The funding from this opportunity is to assist with developing evidence to fill those gaps, which is why all applicants must have a plan and funding set aside for evaluating their interventions.
Specifically, applications must propose one of the following:
- An intervention that incorporates a traditional Title III-C1 service delivery approach; or
- An intervention that incorporates a traditional Title III-C1 and one or more nontraditional Title III-C1 or Title III-C2 service delivery approaches; or
- An intervention that incorporates two or more Title III-C1 and/or Title III-C2 nontraditional service delivery approaches.
