Funding Priorities Diverse City Fund supports groups that center the following:
- Mobilizing:
- groups mobilizing people for direct actions.
- Advocacy & organizing
- groups engaged in community organizing focused on power-building, campaigns or other systemic change, or advocacy focused on policy, administrative or legal changes.
- Healing Justice & liberation
- groups supporting organizer and/or community wellbeing (emotional, mental, spiritual, and/or cultural) toward building sustainable movements. Grantees will be able to use their funding for general operating purposes including staff salaries, equipment and materials, rent, participant stipends, transportation, food, etc.
Funding Information
Award grants of up to $10,000 to group/organizations with yearly budgets of $50,000 or less that meet the eligibility criteria and up to $25,000 to group/organizations with yearly budgets between $50,000+ to $2M that meet the eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Criteria
- This opportunity is available to any BIPOC-led, DC, community-based organizations or groups, including start ups, located in Washington DC doing work that addresses the root cause of systemic issues to address racial injustice. Nonprofit status is not required but groups will need to secure a fiscal agent before funds can be distributed. They fund groups that are:
- Led by people of color and focus on DC residents.
- Taking action to create equitable outcomes.
- Employing approaches and strategies (like power building) to tackle problems at the root by engaging affected communities to find solutions, organize against oppression, and create systemic change.
- Amplifying the leadership and voices of those directly affected by the issues and needs being addressed.
- Transferring power and resources to directly affected communities
