The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce unveiled its new Minority Small Business Owner Grant Program. With a history of innovation and making the Dulles Region a center for both business and community growth, the Chamber is constantly exploring new ways to address the changing landscape of business and provide connections that help business owners thrive.
The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce Minority Small Business Owner Grant program was established to assist minority and women owned small businesses in Fairfax and Loudoun counties in Virginia, to foster an inclusive culture of encouragement, as well as offer financial support.
The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce has partnered with America’s Charities, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Virginia, to administer and manage its grant program. America’s Charities is responsible for the management of the program, including performing all reviews and decisions for applications. Grants from The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce Minority Small Business Owner Grant Program are subject to the availability of funds and satisfactory completion of the application.
Eligibility Criteria
- The grant program is open to minority owners of small for-profit businesses located in Loudoun and Fairfax Counties in Virginia who have experienced a financial hardship due to the events in the past two years with 10 employees or less.
- Per the NMSDC and this grant program, a minority owned business is defined as at least 51% minority–owned, managed and controlled. A minority group member is an individual who is at least 25% Asian-Indian, Asian-Pacific, Black, Hispanic or Native American or an individual who identifies as a woman. Ownership, in the case of a publicly owned business, means that at least 51% of the stock is owned by one or more minority group members. Management and daily operations must be exercised by the minority business owner(s).
- Applicants will be required to provide the following in their submissions:
- An essay in their submission focusing on how the grant will help the minority small business owner overcome a barrier (250 word maximum).
- 2020 & 2021 Business Financial Statements and Personal Tax Filings
- Financial hardship demonstrated by a decline in minority small business owners’ personal take home revenue
- If approved, the grant award amount is $2,500 and will be paid directly to the applicant via e-Check or mailed check.
- Applicants can only be approved for one grant in a calendar year.
