What makes a Good Nominations
Think of this nomination as a job interview. A compelling nomination will:
- Get to the point! Many questions have a character limit of 2,000 characters (including spacing and punctuation), but most answers do not need that much room. Keep it short, stick to the facts. They suggest creating your responses in a word document and copying into the nomination form.
- It leaves out the unnecessary. Avoid fluff like superfluous adjectives and empty praise. Don’t list an exhaustive resume of achievements/accomplishments; stick to the specific reasons why the company deserves recognition.
- Make sure to highlight the big impact of your company’s work professionally, but don’t be repetitive.
- Quantify your answers. How much revenue did a new innovation generate or what percentage of growth did the company recognize?
- Do not include links to your website or social media pages. These are deleted prior to delivering information to judges and wastes your 2,000-character limit.
Nominations Benefits
- Recognition by Denver Business Journal — the region’s business media company of record — can set a business apart from its competitors and make the business more visible in the community and to potential partners and investors.
- If your small business makes the list, it sends a message of success to employees and prospective employees, and gives your company the opportunity to recognize workers for their contributions to your success.
