Purpose Areas
Pursuant to 34 U.S.C. § 12421(1)(B), Abuse in Later Life Program funds may be used for the following purposes:
- Provide training programs to assist attorneys, health care providers, faith-based leaders, community-based organizations, or other professionals who may identify or respond to abuse in later life; or
- Conduct outreach activities and awareness campaigns to ensure that victims of abuse in later life receive appropriate assistance.
Funding Information
- This program typically makes awards in the range of $400,000 to $750,000. OVW estimates that it will make up to 25 awards for an estimated $13,000,000.
Funding levels under this program for FY 2024 are:
- $400,000 for projects with a service area population up to 400,000 for the entire 36 or 48 months.
- $600,000 for projects with a service area population 400,001 to 700,000 for the entire 36 or 48 months.
- $750,000 for projects with a service area population 700,001 and above for the entire 36 or 48 months.
- $750,000 for statewide projects, regardless of service area population for the entire 36 or 48 months.
Eligibility Criteria
Pursuant to 34 U.S.C. § 12421(2)(A), the following entities are eligible to apply for this program:
- States;
- Units of local government;
- Tribal governments or tribal organizations;
- Population specific organizations;
- Victim service providers; and
- State, tribal, or territorial domestic violence or sexual assault coalitions.
For the purposes of this grant program, a state is defined to include all states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
