The CRG program will provide funding of up to $10,000 to 501(c)3 nonprofits that provide programming designed to prevent youth violence, substance use disorder, or substance use treatment in Boston, Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop. State law allows prosecutors to distribute up to 10 percent of assets seized in narcotics prosecutions to community-based organizations for crime prevention and substance use treatment.
Uses of funds
CRG funding may be used for purposes including but not limited to:
- Materials, supplies, and technology to be used by program participants
- Youth job stipends
- Field trips
- Awards for program participants (excluding cash and gift cards).
Eligibility Criteria
Non-profit organizations with 501 (c)3 certification that offer violence prevention, substance use intervention and treatment, trauma, and mental health support, and mentoring and educational programs for Suffolk County youth and adults are encouraged to apply. Applications from city-wide or county-wide programs must specify their area of focus and target populations. Organizations receiving funding are expected to produce a report at the end of the calendar year detailing fund allocation, event pictures and outcomes facilitated by grant funding. Grants will not be awarded to any city, state, or federal government agency. Organizations thot do not currently hove 501 (c)3 status may partner with a 501 (c)3 to serve as a passthrough agency in order to apply.
