Target Gender Equality is a free program that supports participating companies over a period of 8 months in developing and implementing measures for the fair participation of women in economic life. The contents of the program are based on two overarching goals:
- Increasing the representation and inclusion of women at all levels in the company, especially in managerial positions
- Reducing the gender pay gap and achieving equal pay for work of equal value
Companies participating in the program have the opportunity to either focus on one of these two topics or to tackle goal setting and action planning in both topic areas. Due to this innovation, the program is also worthwhile for companies that have already participated in a previous round of the accelerator.
Content of the Program
- Analysis of the current company performance and discussion of the aggregated results using the anonymous WEPs gender gap analysis tool
- Access to e-learning, toolkits and good practice examples
- Global Q&A expert sessions and local workshops to develop strategies, goals and actions

Why your company should join?
- Target Gender Equality is a gender equality accelerator programme for participating companies of the UN Global Compact. Through facilitated performance analysis, capacity building workshops, peer-to-peer learning and multi-stakeholder dialogue at the country-level, Target Gender Equality will support companies engaged with the UN Global Compact in setting and reaching ambitious corporate targets for women’s representation and and ensure equal pay for work of equal value.
- Companies participating in Target Gender Equality have the opportunity to deepen implementation of the Women’s Empowerment Principles. They will also strengthen their contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 5.5, which calls for equal women representation, participation and leadership in business globally, as well as Sustainable Development Goal 8.5, which aims to achieve equal pay for work of equal value by 2030. Companies will be equipped with the latest data and research supporting the business case for gender equality, gain insights from UN partners and experts on how to accelerate tprogress on gender equailty and develop an action plan for putting their learnings into practice.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Target Gender Equality training program is open and free to all member companies of UN Global Compact Finland, Germany, Switzerland & Liechtenstein, United States of America.
- All the member companies can participate in the program. If your organization is not yet a member, you can join. During the program, companies get to analyze their own strengths and areas for development related to gender equality in working life. The training program is suitable for all companies, regardless of the sector.
- They hope that the participating companies will commit to participate for the entire duration of the program, as there are limited places available. Two employees from each company participate in the training program (e.g. Sustainability/HR/DEI/Communications), whose task is to familiarize themselves with the study materials and course assignments, participate in the program’s training sessions and workshops, and coordinate the work done in their own organization. They encourage you to take diversity into account when choosing the employees participating in the program.
- In addition to the main participants, there must be a representative of the management level. The person in question can be, for example, a representative of the management team, with whom the participants can discuss issues arising during the program, receive support for their work and monitor progress in the program.
