The BIPOC-centered Arts & Cultural Practices Grant supports artists, culture bearers, groups, collectives, and organizations engaged in making, producing, teaching, and engaging in BIPOC-centered arts and cultural practices. The fund is interested in program, project or unrestricted support for traditional folk arts and practices as well as contemporary expressions of work by, for or about Black, Indigenous, or People of Color communities. Artists, groups, or organizations can not receive both Youth Arts grants and BIPOC-Centered Arts & Cultural Grants for the same program/project.
Applicants who apply to the BIPOC-Centered Arts & Cultural Practices Grant may apply to any other grant category (Youth Arts; Individual Microgrant; Arts Cultural Space and Artist Next Level Projects) but may only be awarded up to two VAF grants. However, artists, groups, or organizations can not receive both Youth Arts grants and BIPOC-Centered Arts & Cultural Grants for the same program/project.

Eligible Applicants
- BIPOC-led or -rooted arts and culture organizations, collectives, and individuals in Vallejo seeking funds to support BIPOC-centered artistic or cultural work within the performing artist, visual arts, digital and media arts, traditional folk arts, and oral/written storytelling. VAF deeply appreciates the multifaceted aspects of arts and cultural practices. However, the VAF is currently not seeking applications for healing arts practices (i.e., massage therapists, reiki or acupuncture practitioners), nail artists, culinary artists, locticians, tattoo artists, yoga instructors, fitness/aerobics instructors, or makeup artists.
- Applicants applying as individuals must be age 18 and older.
Eligible Grant Proposals could include:
- BIPOC Traditional Folks Arts & Cultural Practices in Vallejo (i.e., Miwok Basket Weaving, West African Drumming, Southern Filipinx Cultural Dances)
- Contemporary Arts & Cultural Workshops/Classes/Programs that center Black, Indigenous, People of Color art forms, experiences, and or expressions in Vallejo.
- Contemporary Arts & Cultural Exhibitions/Productions/Concerts/Festivals/Public Sharings in Vallejo that center Black, Indigenous, People of Color’s arts and cultural work.
- Capacity Building for BIPOC-Centered Arts & Cultural Practices in Vallejo (i.e., funding for administrative, marketing, and business element)s of producing BIPOC-Centered Arts/Cultural Programs.
- Programs that connect across BIPOC Communities, generations and/or neighborhoods in Vallejo.
