- Other organizations with a fiscal sponsor that meets either of the criteria above. Note: applicants must have an adopted organizational policy on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Evaluation Criteria and Considerations
Please keep the following review criteria in mind when developing your grant application. The grant review committee will score applications based on how they respond to the following questions:
- Cultural and Historic Value
- Does the celebration help build community? Are significant historical educational elements incorporated? Is the local heritage or culture highlighted?
- Community Value
- Does the celebration demonstrate strong community support through partnerships, financial and in-kind contributions, and volunteers? Does the celebration feature people, products, and services from Tompkins County? Does the celebration use sustainable practices?
- Ability to Deliver
- Does the project team have the necessary experience to carry out the event? Does the event plan include adequate personnel, funding, and other resources? Have lessons from past events informed the current event plan? Has the applicant used technical assistance from the Tompkins Festivals Program or other sources? Is the applicant aware of the necessary permits?
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
- Does the celebration promote social diversity and inclusion? Is the event accessible to all people? Does the application demonstrate efforts to attract a diverse audience?
- Clarity of Application and Budget
- Is the application complete, coherent, and compelling? Does the budget clearly state all expenses and revenues? Is it clear how the grant funds will be spent?
