Funding Information
Initially, the Foundation will award up to $45,000 annually in Program grants to established nonprofits dedicated to launching innovative and high-impact programs, or building their capacity to provide existing programs. In addition, the Foundation will grant one or two Seed grants of up to $5,000 each to organizations with new ideas that will add to the rich mix of programs available in their community. These organizations must demonstrate that they have the ability to achieve their goals, but lack sufficient capital and/or resources to gain nonprofit status and realize their vision.
Program Grant Eligibility Criteria
- Proposed program must deliver a significant portion of services within Maplewood, New Jersey
- Be a 501(c)(3) organization or have a fiscal sponsor who is one
- Provide a list of current Board of Trustees and Officers
- Have operated for at least 1 year
- Have a website
- Provide at least 1 year of financial statements (audited if required)
- Submit a grant request for a well-defined program with itemized costs covering a specified time period with measurable results
- Plan to use grant funds for program implementation within two years of the award
- At the end of the grant period, provide a narrative report comparing objectives to accomplishments, along with a detailed account of all disbursements at the end of the grant period
Seed Grant Eligibility Criteria
- Submit information called for by requirements 1), 7), 8) and 9) under the Program Grant criteria
- Provide a list of officers of the organization.
- State how long your organization has been in existence.
The following entities are not eligible for any funding:
- 501(c)(4) organizations
- 527 organizations and other political entities
- Private businesses
- Private or parochial schools
- Religious programs
- Individuals
Grant recipients must publicly acknowledge The Maplewood Foundation’s contribution. All unused funds must be returned to the Foundation at the end of the grant period.
