Mission
The Foundation is a public charitable trust for exclusively educational, scientific, literary, religious or charitable purposes. From the little acorn comes the mighty oak: From the original small investment of $5,000, The Florence Foundation has bestowed an excess of $3 million during the past 50 years.
The Florence Foundation Board of Governors distribute funds for any of the following uses and purposes:
- For assisting public charitable, religious or educational institutions, whether supported wholly or in part by private endowment, donation or public taxation.
- For promoting and aiding scientific research for the advancement of human knowledge, for increasing the productivity of the soil and animal life, for the elimination of disease and the alleviation of human suffering.
- For providing scholarships or otherwise assisting worthy young men and women, of limited means, in obtaining an education.
- For the care of the sick, the aged, the needy and the helpless.
- For providing facilities for public recreation.
- For research into the cause of ignorance, poverty, crime and vice, preventing the operation of such causes and remedying or eliminating the conditions resulting therefrom.

Funding Information
The Florence Foundation will review grant requests for the following types of grants: capital campaigns, programs and special projects, financial aid, and endowment campaigns. Grant amounts will range from $5,000 to $50,000. Most grants will be one year in duration. Contributions are not made to or for debt retirement, media productions or publications loans.
Eligibility Criteria
- Grants are awarded to qualified 501(c) (3) charitable organizations in the state of Texas, with preference given to organizations located in Dallas County and contiguous counties. Trustees may occasionally make discretionary grants outside of the stated geographic area for which unsolicited applications are not accepted.
- Due to the limited amount of grant dollars available to distribute each year, applications will only be accepted from organizations with annual operating budgets of less than $20 million.
