The Dow Last Mile Fund for Manufacturing & Skilled Trades aims to increase program completion among students within the final semesters of pursuing careers in manufacturing and skilled trades programs at institutions in communities near Dow sites.
The Fund aims to create a more robust, diverse, and readily-available technical talent pipeline and help increase students’ career earnings and social mobility.
Qualified students are eligible for all three of Last Mile’s core grants: Rapid-response emergency financial assistance (mini-grants), Bridge grants, and larger Last Mile grants, all to support their educational progress and help overcome unexpected financial obstacles.
Manufacturing and skilled trades students nearing program completion at institutions in the following communities are eligible to apply:

Emergency Financial Assistance
- Up to $599
- Assists with basic needs such as food, transportation, housing, and connectivity.
Bridge Grants
- $600-$3,000
- Bridges potentially catastrophic financial hurdles that could prevent progress to degree completion.
- Enables career-building opportunities.
Last Mile Grants
- Up to $5,000
- Assists in covering tuition and expenses for the final credits to degree completion.

- Electromechanical Technology
- Engineering Technology AAS Electrical Concentration
- Engineering Technology AAS Mechanical Concentration
- Industrial Technology

- Laboratory Technician
- Millwright or Pipefitter
- Process Technology or Applied Process Technology
- Occupational Safety and Health or Environmental Technology
- Welding or Structural Welding or Pipe Welding
Eligibility Criteria
Students of all genders in the following Dow communities:
Kentucky – Carrollton
- Jefferson Community and Technical College
Louisiana – St. Charles, St. James and St. John’s parishes
- River Parishes Community College
Texas – Orange and Port Arthur
- Lamar State College, Orange
- Lamar Institute of Technology
West Virginia – Charleston, South Charleston, Institute and Nitro
- Bridge Valley Community and Technical University
- West Virginia State University
And who are:
- U.S. citizens or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients;
- within two semesters of graduation;
- in pursuit of a career in manufacturing and skilled trades;
- able to demonstrate financial need.
